Guide for Authors

1. Introduction

Thank you for considering Climate Change, Health and Environment (CCHE) for the publication of your research.

This guide provides comprehensive information to assist authors in preparing, submitting, revising, and publishing manuscripts in accordance with the journal's editorial policies and international standards of scholarly publishing.

Authors are encouraged to read these guidelines carefully before submitting a manuscript. Adherence to the journal's requirements facilitates efficient editorial handling, timely peer review, and high-quality publication.

CCHE welcomes original, scientifically rigorous, and ethically conducted research that advances knowledge in climate change, environmental science, human health, sustainability, environmental management, and related interdisciplinary fields.

The journal publishes high-quality manuscripts that contribute to scientific understanding, evidence-based policy, technological innovation, and sustainable solutions addressing global environmental and health challenges.

Submission of a manuscript confirms that the work is original, has not been published previously, is not under consideration elsewhere, and complies with the journal's editorial policies, publication ethics, and applicable legal and ethical requirements.

Before You Submit: Quick Checklist

Before submitting your manuscript to Climate Change, Health and Environment (CCHE), please ensure that all of the following requirements have been met:

☐ The manuscript falls within the Aims and Scope of the journal.

☐ The manuscript has been prepared using the official CCHE Manuscript Template.

☐ The manuscript is written in clear and grammatically correct English.

☐ The manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal.

☐ All authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript.

☐ All ethical requirements applicable to the study have been fulfilled.

☐ All in-text citations and the reference list are prepared according to APA (7th Edition).

☐ All tables and figures are appropriately numbered, cited in the text, and accompanied by descriptive titles or captions.

☐ A Title Page has been prepared and includes complete author information.

☐ A Cover Letter has been prepared.

Funding, Conflict of Interest, and Data Availability statements have been included where applicable.

☐ The Ethics approval statement includes the committee name and reference number (or clearly states the waiver and its justification).

☐ The Accordance with guidelines statement explicitly names the relevant ethical guideline(s) followed (e.g., Helsinki Declaration).

☐ The Informed consent statement clarifies how consent was obtained (written/verbal), what participants were told, and whether consent was waived (with reason).

☐ At least three suggested reviewers have been entered into the journal's online submission system.

☐ All required files have been uploaded through the journal's online submission system.

Completing this checklist before submission will help facilitate an efficient editorial assessment and peer-review process.

Failure to comply with the journal's submission requirements may result in the manuscript being returned to the authors for technical revision before peer review.

 

2. Aims and Scope

Climate Change, Health and Environment (CCHE) publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed research that advances scientific knowledge and interdisciplinary understanding of climate change, environmental science, human health, sustainability, environmental management, and related fields.

The journal welcomes original research articles, review papers, short communications, case studies, and other scholarly contributions that address emerging scientific challenges, innovative technologies, evidence-based policies, and practical solutions relevant to environmental and public health.

Authors should ensure that their manuscripts fall within the journal's scope before submission.

3. Types of Articles

CCHE considers the following categories of manuscripts:

  • Original Research Articles

  • Review Articles

  • Short Communications

  • Commentaries (by invitation)

Each manuscript type should present original, scientifically sound, and ethically conducted work that falls within the journal's aims and scope.

Specific formatting requirements and recommended manuscript structure may vary depending on the article type.

The Editorial Office reserves the right to determine the most appropriate article category for accepted manuscripts where necessary.

 

4. Language

CCHE publishes manuscripts exclusively in English.

Authors are expected to submit manuscripts written in clear, accurate, and grammatically correct English. The language should be suitable for an international scientific audience.

Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscripts reviewed by a qualified English-language editor or a professional language editing service prior to submission.

Language editing does not guarantee acceptance but may improve the clarity and readability of the manuscript.

Manuscripts with language deficiencies that substantially hinder scientific evaluation may be returned to the authors for language revision before entering the peer-review process.

 

5. Publication Model (Open Access)

CCHE is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed journal.

All published articles are freely and permanently accessible through the journal's website without subscription or access fees, promoting the broad dissemination of scientific knowledge.

The journal is committed to increasing the visibility, accessibility, and impact of high-quality research while supporting the principles of responsible and equitable scholarly communication.

6. Article Processing Charges (APC)

There are currently no submission fees or Article Processing Charges (APCs) for manuscripts submitted to Climate Change, Health and Environment (CCHE).

Authors are not required to pay any fees for manuscript submission, editorial assessment, peer review, or publication.

Should the journal's publication fee policy change in the future, any applicable charges will be clearly announced on the journal website prior to manuscript submission.

7. Research Ethics

CCHE is committed to the highest standards of research integrity and publication ethics.

Authors must ensure that their research has been conducted ethically, responsibly, and in accordance with applicable international guidelines, institutional regulations, and national legislation.

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

  • the work is original and has not been published previously;

  • the manuscript is not under consideration by another journal;

  • all authors have approved the submitted version;

  • the research has been conducted ethically and responsibly;

  • all applicable ethical approvals and informed consent requirements have been obtained where necessary.

The journal does not accept any form of scientific misconduct, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, inappropriate authorship, or undisclosed conflicts of interest.

8. Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.

All listed authors must have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for its content and must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.

Changes in authorship, including the addition, removal, or reordering of authors, after manuscript submission will only be considered in exceptional circumstances and must be approved by the Editorial Office with the written agreement of all authors.

Authors are encouraged to identify their individual contributions using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) where applicable.

9. AI-Assisted Technologies

CCHE recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) tools may assist authors in improving language, readability, or manuscript preparation.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and scientific content of their manuscripts, regardless of any AI-assisted technologies used during manuscript preparation.

AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors and cannot assume responsibility for the submitted work.

Where the use of AI-assisted technologies has materially contributed to manuscript preparation, authors should disclose such use in accordance with the journal's AI Policy.

10. Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence, or be perceived to influence, the research or its interpretation.

If no conflicts of interest exist, authors should include the following statement in their manuscript:

"The authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest."

All disclosures will be considered during the editorial process and, where appropriate, published with the article.

11. Funding Statement

Authors must disclose all sources of financial support received for the research.

The funding statement should include the name of the funding organization, grant number (where applicable), and any relevant financial support.

If the research received no external funding, authors should state:

"This research received no external funding."

 

12. Data Availability Statement

Authors are encouraged to include a Data Availability Statement describing the availability of the data supporting the findings of the study.

Where appropriate, authors should indicate whether the data are publicly available, available upon reasonable request, included within the article or supplementary materials, or subject to restrictions.

13. Human and Animal Ethics

Research involving human participants or animals must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional requirements.

Where appropriate, authors must provide information regarding ethics committee approval, informed consent, and adherence to relevant international ethical guidelines.

Manuscripts that fail to meet ethical requirements may be rejected without external peer review.

14. Clinical Trial Registration

Clinical trials should be registered in a publicly accessible clinical trial registry before participant enrollment, where applicable.

Authors should provide the registration number and the name of the registry within the manuscript.

This requirement applies only to studies involving clinical trial registration.

15. Reporting Guidelines

Authors are encouraged to prepare and report their research in accordance with internationally recognized reporting guidelines appropriate to their study design.

Examples include reporting standards for clinical trials, observational studies, systematic reviews, diagnostic accuracy studies, qualitative research, and animal experiments.

Where applicable, authors should indicate the reporting guideline followed during manuscript preparation.

Following recognized reporting standards improves the transparency, completeness, and reproducibility of published research.

 

Part B. Preparing the Manuscript

16. General Formatting

Authors should prepare their manuscripts using the official CCHE Manuscript Template, available on the journal website.

Manuscripts should be written in clear and concise English and organized according to the structure required for the selected article type.

The Editorial Office may return manuscripts for technical revision if they do not comply with the journal's formatting requirements.

Authors are strongly encouraged to use the journal template to facilitate efficient editorial processing and peer review.

 

17. Title Page

The Title Page should be submitted as a separate document and include:

  • Full manuscript title.

  • Running title (if applicable).

  • Full names of all authors.

  • Authors' institutional affiliations.

  • ORCID iDs (recommended).

  • Corresponding author's name and email address.

  • Funding information (where applicable).

  • Conflict of Interest statement.

  • Author Contribution statement (CRediT), where applicable.

To facilitate a fair and unbiased peer-review process, the Title Page should be submitted separately to facilitate editorial processing and accurate publication metadata.

 

18. Abstract

Each manuscript must include a clear and informative abstract that accurately summarizes the objectives, methods, principal findings, and conclusions of the study.

The abstract should be written as a single paragraph unless otherwise required for a specific article type.

Abbreviations, references, figures, and tables should generally be avoided in the abstract.

The recommended length of the abstract is provided in the manuscript template.

 

19. Keywords

Authors should provide 4–6 keywords immediately following the abstract.

Keywords should accurately reflect the main topics of the manuscript and assist in indexing and information retrieval.

Authors are encouraged to avoid repeating words already used in the manuscript title and, where appropriate, to use internationally recognized scientific terminology.

Authors are encouraged to use terms available in recognized scientific vocabularies (e.g., MeSH for health-related topics), where appropriate.

 

20. Main Text

The main text should be organized in a logical and coherent manner appropriate to the article type.

For Original Research Articles, the manuscript should normally include the following sections:

  1. Introduction

  2. Materials and Methods (or Methods)

  3. Results

  4. Discussion

  5. Conclusions

Where appropriate, authors may combine the Results and Discussion sections.

Review Articles, Short Communications, Case Studies, and other article types may follow alternative structures appropriate to their content.

Authors should use clear section headings and a consistent numbering system throughout the manuscript.

21. References

CCHE follows the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th Edition referencing style.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all citations and references cited in the manuscript.

References should be relevant, current, and directly related to the content of the study. Whenever possible, authors are encouraged to cite original research articles and include Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) where available.

Authors should prepare both in-text citations and the reference list according to the journal's official APA (7th Edition) style, as illustrated in the CCHE Manuscript Template.

The Editorial Office may request corrections if references are incomplete, inaccurate, or not formatted according to the journal's requirements.

 

22. Tables

Tables should be created using the table function of the word-processing software and should not be submitted as images.

Each table should:

  • be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals;

  • include a concise and informative title;

  • be cited in the text in numerical order;

  • contain explanatory footnotes where necessary;

  • avoid duplication of information presented in figures or the main text.

Tables should be designed to enhance the clarity of the manuscript and should remain understandable without reference to the main text whenever possible.

 

23. Figures

Figures should be of high quality and suitable for publication.

Each figure should:

  • be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals;

  • include a clear and informative caption;

  • be cited in the text in numerical order;

  • have sufficient resolution for publication;

  • avoid unnecessary decorative elements that do not contribute to scientific understanding.

Where figures have been reproduced or adapted from previously published material, authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions and providing appropriate acknowledgements.

Image manipulation that alters or misrepresents scientific findings is not permitted.

 

24. Supplementary Materials

Authors may submit supplementary materials that support the scientific content of the manuscript but are not essential to its main presentation.

Examples include:

  • additional datasets;

  • extended tables;

  • supplementary figures;

  • multimedia files;

  • detailed methodologies;

  • computer code or software;

  • other supporting documents.

All supplementary materials should be clearly identified, appropriately referenced within the manuscript, and submitted together with the main manuscript.

The Editorial Office reserves the right to determine the suitability of supplementary materials for publication.

 

25. Units, Abbreviations, and Nomenclature

Authors should use the International System of Units (SI) throughout the manuscript.

Abbreviations should be defined at their first occurrence in both the abstract and the main text and should be used consistently thereafter.

Scientific names, symbols, abbreviations, and nomenclature should follow internationally accepted conventions appropriate to the relevant discipline.

Non-standard abbreviations should be avoided unless they are essential for clarity and are used consistently throughout the manuscript.

 

Part C. Submission

26. Online Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's online submission system available on the CCHE website.

Authors should ensure that all required files and information are provided at the time of submission to facilitate efficient editorial processing.

The Editorial Office will acknowledge receipt of each submission. Authors may monitor the progress of their manuscripts through the online submission system.

Manuscripts submitted by email or other means will not normally be considered for publication.

 

27. Required Submission Documents

Authors should submit the following documents during manuscript submission:

  • Manuscript file prepared according to the CCHE Manuscript Template.

  • Title Page.

  • Cover Letter.

  • Figures (where applicable).

  • Supplementary Materials (if applicable).

Additional documents may be requested by the Editorial Office where necessary to support the editorial and peer-review process.

 

28. Cover Letter

A Cover Letter should accompany each manuscript submission.

The Cover Letter should briefly explain:

  • the significance and originality of the work;

  • its relevance to the journal's aims and scope;

  • confirmation that the manuscript is original and not under consideration elsewhere;

  • any additional information that may assist the Editorial Office during the initial assessment.

29. ORCID iD

CCHE strongly encourages all authors, particularly the corresponding author, to provide a valid ORCID iD at the time of manuscript submission.

ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes researchers and improves the accuracy of author identification, attribution, and scholarly communication.

Authors who do not yet have an ORCID iD may register free of charge through the official ORCID website.

Providing an ORCID iD enhances the visibility and discoverability of published research and supports accurate indexing across scholarly databases.

 

30. Suggested Reviewers

To facilitate the peer-review process, authors are required to suggest at least three (3) potential reviewers with appropriate expertise relevant to the subject of the submitted manuscript.

Suggested reviewers should:

  • possess recognized expertise in the relevant research field;

  • have no financial, professional, or personal conflicts of interest with any of the authors;

  • not be affiliated with the same institution as any of the authors;

  • not have collaborated or co-authored publications with any of the authors within the past five years;

  • have a valid institutional email address whenever possible.

The Editorial Office reserves the right to accept or disregard any reviewer suggestions. The selection of reviewers remains entirely at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief or the Handling Editor, and suggested reviewers may or may not be invited to review the manuscript.

 

Part D. Editorial Process

31. Initial Editorial Assessment

Following submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment to determine whether it complies with the journal's scope, submission requirements, and editorial policies.

During this stage, the Editorial Office evaluates the completeness of the submission, adherence to the journal's formatting requirements, and overall suitability for peer review.

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's basic requirements may be returned to the authors for pre-review revision or declined without external peer review.

32. Peer Review

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial editorial assessment are assigned to the peer-review process.

CCHE operates a single-blind peer-review system in which reviewers know the identity of the authors, while the identities of reviewers remain confidential.

Each manuscript is normally evaluated by at least two independent expert reviewers. Additional reviewers may be invited when required.

Editorial decisions are based on the reviewers' comments together with the independent assessment of the Editor-in-Chief or the assigned Handling Editor.

33. Editorial Decisions

Based on the reviewers' recommendations and the editorial evaluation, one of the following decisions may be made:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Reject

Authors receiving a revision decision should submit a revised manuscript together with a detailed response to reviewers within the specified timeframe.

The final publication decision rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief.

 

34. Revision Policy

Authors should carefully address all reviewer and editorial comments when revising their manuscripts.

A point-by-point response explaining how each comment has been addressed should accompany the revised submission.

Failure to provide an adequate response or to submit revisions within the requested period may result in the withdrawal of the manuscript from further consideration.

Where necessary, revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation.

 

Part E. After Acceptance

35. Copyediting and Proofreading

Following acceptance, manuscripts undergo professional copyediting, language editing (where necessary), formatting, and final quality control prior to publication.

The corresponding author will receive page proofs for final review and is responsible for carefully checking the accuracy of the text, tables, figures, author information, and references.

Only essential corrections of typographical or production errors should be made at the proof stage. Substantial changes to the scientific content are generally not permitted after acceptance.

 

36. Digital Object Identifier (DOI)

Each published article is assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI), providing a permanent and persistent identifier for citation, indexing, and long-term accessibility.

Authors are encouraged to use the article DOI when citing or sharing their published work.

 

37. Online Publication

Accepted articles are published online after completion of the editorial production process.

Articles are published in their final version with complete bibliographic information and are immediately available through the journal's website as open-access publications.

Publication dates and issue assignment are determined by the Editorial Office in accordance with the journal's publication schedule.

38. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the rights specified under the journal's copyright and licensing policy.
